Micaceous Iron Oxide (MIO) is a form of iron oxide. It is a highly structured, layered mineral which, when the pigments are ground into smaller particles tend to cleave along their layers, revealing flat, shiny faces that act like tiny mirrors. The tiny mirrors reflect UV light which in turn protects the resin from degradation and gives the coating an attractive sparkle.
The resulting effect makes the paint ideal for coating steel structures and protects against rust and corrosion.
MIO Coatings were designed for the protection of steel, not as a decorative finish.
Nevertheless, MIO Coatings are widely used for their sparkly finish and industrial look.
This paint is applied prior to the application of Dinitrol cavity and underbody waxes
