Windscreen Removal Tools

Modern windscreens or windshields are generally made of laminated safety glass, a type of treated glass, which consists of two (typically) curved sheets of glass with a plastic layer laminated between them for safety, and are glued into the window frame. Because, windscreens of modern cars are glued in using a urethane adhesive and not wedged in like those of the early 80's and before, it is strongly advisable to take your car to a certified auto-technician to have a windscreen removed and replaced. There are many professionally designed windscreen removal tools that will safely remove any adhesive bonded glass from any vehicle. Before you attempt to remove and/or replace a windscreen, consider carefully whether the risks involved, outweigh the cost of having it done by a professional auto-technician.

REJEL is a major supplier of well known windscreen removal tool brands, such as, BTB, REJEL, SAFEGARD, Fein, Glass Medic, Bodyguards, UltraWiz and OLFA.

The UltraWiz® glass cutting tools are designed for manual glass removal and made from high quality steel. Ultrawiz cutting out blades remain flexible and retain their sharpness much longer than average cold knife blades. The grinding of the blade is at a greater angle to reduce resistance. The purpose of the design is to give the blade sharper angles, making it easier for technicians to find "the sweet spot" during cutting. The blades are available in various thicknesses.

The 8 piece windscreen cutting out kit is used for the removal of direct glazed glass. This handy windscreen removal kit contains 3 chisel blades for removing the urethane,  4 cutting out blades, 1 handle and 1 pulling handle. Another handy windscreen removal tool is the cold knife Cutting Out Tool with a quick release button in order to change a blade in seconds. It is a cast aluminium tool with high strength steel cable attachment handle.

Remember that it is advisable to always wear proper eye and hand protection when working with windscreen removal tools to avoid splinters or cuts. And, accidental damage to a vehicle from glass splinters or a windscreen removal tool can be prevented by protecting it with a dash board protection mat whilst cutting out a windscreen from the inside of the vehicle.
